WOW, this current weather system moving through is sure producing some great snow. It continues to fall after receiving 50cm to 60cm overnight .... This season is shaping up to be pretty special
A southerly front is moving across the lower South Island bringing cold temps and plenty of snow. The forecast is for it to move on up the country tonight so we can expect clearer skies tomorrow and temperatures easing.
You are able to drive as far as the 4m mark before coming to a gate and sign stating no access unless authorised. The views at this point across the basin are great. We apologise for any inconvenience the closure causes but with heavy long deck truck movements up and down the road the risk to all users requires us to maintain the road closed at this time.
There is still a fair amount to be completed on the new base lodge and the contractors are working feverishly to complete it so we can enjoy a Brand New facility this winter.
